Useful Books

This group invites mothers, or anyone in the mothering role, to join together to share their experience of being a mother in a caring, non-judgemental and safe setting. It is designed to provide support, education and counselling so you, as a mother, can work through your feelings.

The purpose would be to:

  • give time and space to reflect on you rather than the baby
  • realise that feelings both good and bad are normal
  • realise that you are not alone
  • make friends and extend support networks
  • acknowledge the value of your role, the demands and what you have achieved
  • emotionally heal from difficult events and labour experiences
  • explore how unattended feelings or needs can lead to unhealthy behaviour, thinking or feelings
  • support you in the changes that so often occur in your relationships with your partner, family and friends
  • support you in your relationship with your baby
  • understand yourself as a parent in the light of how you were looked after as a child

The possible benefits of the group include getting more enjoyment out of being a mum, feeling supported and normal, developing better self caring strategies, feeling less stressed or depressed having a more secure relationship with your baby and working through big changes with your partner and family.

The group will be held on Mondays 10 - 11.15am in East Worthing.

If you wish to bring babies under 9 months please do so. Over this age childcare arrangements are necessary. If this is an obstacle please talk this through with us.

This is a new group so introductory price is £5 and starts on 8th June 2009.
